Laura Gazda, Assistant Principal

Dear Haymarket School Community,

Happy 2018 – 2019 school year!  The first day back is fast approaching, yay!

I’m thrilled to be Haymarket’s new Assistant Principal and eagerly await getting to work with you and your students.  I grew up in Northern Virginia and attended Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) for undergrad, Marymount University and James Madison University for my graduate degrees.  My husband of twelve years, Danny, and I are the proud parents of Lillian (10) and Caleb (8) and basically live at the soccer fields during the school year outside of work.  If not at soccer, I can be found with my family and two Fox-Red Labrador Retrievers, reading, traveling, or visiting with family and friends.

My educational career has spanned from preschool to the college level and everything in between!  Most recently, I was the Administrative Intern at The Nokesville School, where I lead the school-wide literacy, school climate committee, discipline/positive behavior supports, buses, gifted education, school crisis and threat assessment team, cafeteria, encore team, as well as multiple grade levels.   Before that, I have been a State Testing Coordinator, team lead, grade level lead, coach, yearbook adviser, and Language Arts/English teacher.  I’m deeply passionate about student literacy and helping students be the best readers, writers, speakers and listeners.  Most importantly, my experience gives me a lens to help see where our students are and how to help them grow and transition into middle school, high school and beyond to achieve their goals and dreams.  Please know, I’ll be here to not only cheer on our students, but work constantly to provide the most amazing learning opportunities.  I love coming to school every day and want the same for our entire school community.

Again, our first day of school is nearly here!  I look forward to an amazing year and getting to know you.  Through working together, our students will be their best and climb great heights!  #HaymarketTogether

All my best,

Laura Gazda
