My name is Amy Metaxa, This is my tenth year as a special education teacher. I began my teaching career as a teacher of students with cognitive disabilities in Kenosha, Wisconsin. During this time, I completed my Master's Degree in Special Education from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My family moved to Prince William County in 2012 were I began teaching as a Special education Teacher for Student's with Learning Disabilities at McAuliffe Elementary School. I transferred to Haymarket Elementary School when the school opened in 2014. I currently serve as lead special education teacher and teacher mentor. My husband and I have two children, Julia and Gavin. Julia is a student at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) and my son Gavin is a junior at Patriot High School (Go Pioneers!). I have two labs, Jake and Zeus. I love to spend time with my family! We love to go on adventures that include mountain climbing and repelling.

CLASSROOM VISION STATEMENT
Mrs. Metaxa’s learners will be creative and “rockin” cubs! During our time together we will be kind, nice and friendly to our fellow classmates. We will be cool super-stars that are bucket-fillers every day!

October 18, 2016 - Parent/Teacher Conferences are on November 7th. Contact your child's classroom teacher to schedule a time.
October 7, 2016 - Your child's IEP will be updated annually. I will be in touch with parents to schedule an IEP Meeting.
