Please be sure to check your child's folder for the Field Trip Permission Slip that went home. Our class will be going by school bus to The Haymarket Gainesville Community Library on Thurs. June 8th. This is a free field trip! If your child plans on getting a library card while we're there, please send in proof of address along with the blue form required by the library. This can be something as simple as an envelope from a piece of mail. If your child already has a library card, he or she can bring it with him or her. Please be sure to send your child's permission slip in no later than Fri. 4/28 so we have plenty of time for the library to process the needed cards. I will notify you via Bloomz/email if you were chosen to be a chaperone. If you have any questions or concerns, as always, feel free to contact me at email@example.com.

This is optional however, if you choose to participate, please be sure that you provide a Valentine for all. We have 25 students in our class. You can find a class list under files as well as on the pink form that went home last week. Please be mindful that we are a tree nut and peanut free classroom so staying away from food items is probably best. I will provide a treat for the entire class at the end of the day. Our Unit 4 Math Test on 2-D Geometry will be Thursday, January 19th. The practice test is located under the files section. We are continuing to focus on the main idea and details of a paragraph, a passage, and a book. This is a challenging objective and we will continue to work on this for the rest of the year. We are also learning how to compare and contrast characters, settings, and events. Thank you again for all of your support and donations in an effort to make our Merchant Day a success! It's an exciting and interactive way for students to learn Economics hands-on! Additionally, we have very cool Science projects coming up in our Animal Adaptations Unit, which will carry over into the 3rd Quarter. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com.

We are all excited about our upcoming field trip to Monticello! Please be sure to be at school at 7:15 am this Fri. 10/21. The bus will be departing promptly at 7:30 am to ensure we arrive on time for our tour. The trip is rain or shine and at this point in the week, it looks like there may be a good chance for rain on Friday. Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately to be outside in the rain (rain coat, umbrella, comfortable walking shoes/sneakers/rain boots). The majority of the trip is outside. Additionally, please be sure to pack your child a snack and a lunch (ALL PEANUT AND TREE NUT FREE). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

We're off to a great start this year!!! Just a few things...
Snack, yes! We are a Peanut and Tree Nut Free Classroom and as someone who suffers from food allergies myself, I kindly ask to be mindful of this when packing lunch/snack for your child. I appreciate your help in keeping our classroom a safe learning environment! Additionally, we enjoy our snacks while we work so please don't send in something that requires silverware or that is time consuming such as peeling an orange.
Water bottle, yes! When we are hydrated our brains work better! Kindly only send in water as we have carpeted classrooms and want to steer clear of sticky spills.
Bloomz, yes! If you haven't received an email invitation from me yet, please email me at email@example.com from the email you wish to receive notifications from. If you are not familiar with Bloomz, you can access it online from any device as well as install the free app on your phone. I will use Bloomz as a method to sign up for both parent conferences and helping to volunteer in the classroom. If you choose not to use Bloomz you can always find the exact information on our (this) class page.
Scholastic Book Club, yes! I sent home an order form with your child as well as our online class code. When students have the ability to choose books that are of high interest to them, they are more likely to read rather than pretend read. This is of course optional. The due date for the 1st Scholastic Book Club Order is Monday, Sept. 26th.
Daily Communication, yes! Please check your child's agenda and blue take home folder daily. All homework assignments, test dates, and important dates will be noted in the agenda. All important papers from myself, the school, and the county will be in the blue take home folder. You will also find your child's penny graph! Ask your child to explain it to you if he or she hasn't already!
