Welcome New Counselor, Mrs. Criser!

My name is Sara Criser, and I’m excited to be joining the Haymarket Elementary School family as a school counselor. It is an honor to be joining such an innovative, student-centered school district with such high standards and rigorous curriculum, which I have experienced first-hand with my two children who both attend Prince William County schools.

I have a passion for working with children and after having spent the majority of my career as a social worker serving a variety of ages, from youth to geriatric, I’m looking forward to getting back to the age group I enjoy the most. I believe early intervention is critical in helping students formulate personal and academic identities that prepare them to be life-long learners and contributing citizens.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology and human development from Radford University and my master’s degree in school counseling from Walden University.

I live in Gainesville with my husband, two children and our labradoodle puppy. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors, especially boating at Lake Anna. Reading, scrapbooking and spending time with my family are among other activities I enjoy.

I will primarily be working with kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd graders, but am available to all students. I look forward to meeting with the students individually, in small groups, and in classrooms and getting to know them. I also look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure students are receiving the support they need.
