Dear Haymarket Cub Families,
I am excited to begin my second year as Principal of Haymarket Elementary! This marks my seventh year serving this incredible community, and each year I look forward to the many opportunities a new school year brings: smiling faces, classrooms filled with learning and exploration, and the joy of watching our students grow, achieve, and thrive.
With more than 20 years of experience in education, including teaching 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades before moving into administration, I remain deeply committed to ensuring every child experience success. My goal is to create an inclusive school environment where all students feel safe, valued, supported, and inspired to learn each day. I firmly believe that strong partnerships between home and school play a vital role in student achievement, and I look forward to working alongside our families to help every student become their very best self.
On a personal note, I am the spouse of a retired military veteran and the proud parent of two children who attended PWCS. My daughter graduated from college last year and has begun an exciting career, while my son is currently a freshman in college. These experiences as both an educator and parent continue to shape my commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for every child.
Thank you for your continued support, trust, and partnership. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community and look forward to an amazing school year together!
Warmly,
Nicole Mills
Principal
Haymarket Elementary School
I was born and raised in Northern Virginia and graduated from Lake Braddock Secondary School before attending the University of Mary Washington, where I earned my bachelor's degree in History and played college baseball. I later earned a Master's degree in Special Education and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership from George Mason University.
Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work in five different schools within Fairfax County Public Schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I've served as a Special Education Teacher, Behavioral Resource Teacher, Coaching Resource Teacher, and Acting Assistant Principal. Each role has helped shape my belief that strong relationships, teamwork, and high expectations are the foundation for student success.
I'm excited to be starting my second year at Haymarket Elementary! Last year made it clear that Haymarket is a special place. The students, staff, and families have created a welcoming school community, and I'm grateful to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to continuing to build relationships, supporting our teachers, and helping every student have a successful and positive school year.
Outside of school, I live in Fairfax, Virginia. In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, working out, spending time with friends, and relaxing at home with my cat, Louis.
Dear Haymarket ES Families,
I am very much looking forward to the 2026-2027 school year, the start of Year 6 for me at Haymarket. I have enjoyed getting to know many of our families since I began at Haymarket in and I look forward to meeting our new families. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful school community. My core belief is that all students can be successful with the right supports, teachers, and administrators that believe in them.
I was born and raised at the Jersey Shore and still spend many weekends and holidays visiting our family that all still live there. I received my undergraduate degree and my first master’s degree in special education from James Madison University (GO DUKES!). This kept me in the Virginia area. I later earned my second master's degree in education leadership from George Mason University in 2019.
I have spent my entire education career working within Prince William County Public Schools. Prior to my time at Haymarket, I was a special education teacher for eight years. Ensuring each individual student has what they need to be successful is still something that drives me as an administrator.
I currently live in Culpeper and have been married to my husband, Phil, for almost nine years. He is also an educator within PWCS. We have a daughter, Emerson, who will be starting Kindergarten this year, and a son, Chase, who is 2 years old. They keep us busy. We also have a Goldendoodle, Jersey.
Doing whatever it takes, believing in all students, and going above and beyond to do what is right for students remains my vision. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or if support is needed. Our continued collaboration is the key to all our students’ success.
Sincerely, Brooke Shore
Hello Haymarket families!
My name is Katie Tobin, and I am thrilled to join the Haymarket Elementary community as an Assistant Principal. I bring 15 years of experience in public education and have had the privilege of serving students, staff, and families as a classroom teacher, instructional technology leader, and school administrator. Most recently, I served as an administrative intern at Alvey Elementary School, where I worked closely with teachers and staff to support student success and strengthen teaching and learning. I am passionate about supporting students, partnering with families, and creating positive learning environments where every child feels valued, challenged, and successful.
My husband and I have two wonderful children, a daughter entering 4th grade and a son entering 2nd grade. As a parent, I understand how important it is to feel connected to your child’s school, and I look forward to building strong relationships with Haymarket families throughout the year.
I am excited to get to know our students, families, and staff, learn more about what makes Haymarket such a special place, and contribute to the positive, supportive culture that already exists here. I can't wait to begin this school year with you and look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely, Katie Tobin
